In the Deepest Part of My Heart
Ashley Thomas
In the deepest part of my heart,
I hear your name,
I see your face,
Your eyes of blue just like the sea,
Your eyes staring right through me,
My heart is beating like a rapid bell;
You've put me under your enchanting spell,
Your spell of love,
Your spell of faith,
But then alas your spell will break;
My heart is crumpled ripped and torn,
But my love for you has all but worn,
I knew from the start that you couldn’t be mine,
I still wonder why I even tried;
You stood so close yet so far away,
I racked my brain for the right thing to say,
A funny joke,
Or just say hi,
To late now you’ve said goodbye;
I’ve given up what’s left to do,
There’s no point in telling you,
I lay awake at night and think,
Of what we could have been,
But this is now and that was then;
So I guess you’ll never know,
How much I loved you so.
